Timothy McCann was born and raised in Pembroke. He then went on to graduate from St. Francis Xavier University with a Bachelor of Arts in 1990 and thereafter obtained his Bachelor of Laws from Queen's University in 1994. In 1998, he was called to the bar.
Tim then returned to the Ottawa Valley and joined his father Terry McCann's law firm "McCann and Sheppard". After practicing at "McCann and Sheppard" for 10 years, he opened his own practice, Timothy S. McCann Lawyer, in 2011.
Tim practices in the areas of real estate, wills, powers of attorney, estate planning and corporate law. He is the current standing Federal Crown for Renfrew County since 2011.
Tim currently serves on the board of the Pembroke Regional Hospital Foundation and Bernadette McCann House. He is a member of the Knights of Columbus. He has been a part-time professor at Algonquin College (Pembroke Campus), teaching Business Law and Estate Planning.
Tim is an avid outdoorsman and enjoys biking, canoeing, swimming, playing hockey and hunting.
